Semi-Active Control for a Helicopter with Multiple Landing Gears Equipped with Magnetorheological Dampers

Due to their extensive use in various applications, helicopters need be able land a variety of conditions. Typically, helicopter landing gear system with skids or passive wheel-dampers is designed based on only one critical touchdown condition. Thus, this may not perform well different A magnetorheological (MR) dampers would promising candidate solve problem. However, semi-active controller must determine the electrical current applied MR damper directly manage damping force. This paper presents new skyhook controller, called extended for multiple gears equipped reduce helicopter’s acceleration at center gravity off-normal attitude 9-DOF simulation model was built using RECURDYN. To verify effectiveness proposed co-simulations were executed RECURDYN and MATLAB initial pitch roll angles touchdown. The main results show that can greatly decrease peak rms compared traditional damper.
